Around the World
Are you looking for something fun and entertaining to do this summer? Come join the Carstairs Public Library for our free summer day camps that run from July 8th to August 15th. Children 5-12 years old are welcome

This year the theme is Around the World! featuring the many amazing places and cultures from our own planet earth. Each day will be filled with crafts, STEM experiments and outdoor activities! As well as there will be a few trips to places around town like the Splash Park, and the Carstairs Heritage Center.

Day Camps
Tuesday to Thursday are the day camps for children who are in the age range of 7-12 years old, the camps run from 10am till 3pm. Pick the day that works best for your family. The program is the same each day.

Fridays are our junior camp days for children who are in the age range of 5-7, and it runs from 10am till 1pm.

To register either complete this form, come by the library, or click HERE to download the registration form and then email it to Carstairssrc@prl.ab.ca to secure your spot!
Children's Reading Challenge
For more fun, join the Summer Reading Challenge, by signing up on Beanstack and participating in the challenge to win prizes, buttons, and the chance to win the grand prize of either an art set or a soccer kit! You get a prize draw entry for every 6 hours you read. Remember every badge you earn on Beanstack you can come into the library and get a physical button. Can you collect them all?

The Beanstack challenge begins June 24 and runs until August 19th
How to participate

Get a Beanstack account. (see our website under services/beanstack for full details)

Start Reading! Use the timer in Beanstack or a clock to track how many minutes you read.

When you get to 6 hours you will earn a digital ticket in Beanstack. Choose which of our Grand Prize draws you want to enter.

Come to the library and show us your finished 6 hours and collect your super special 6 hour prize and receive a button to show your achievement!

Keep reading! Every time you get to another 6 hours you get another digital ticket.
What can I read?
Anything! Picture books, chapter books, beginner readers, audiobooks, graphic novels, the newspaper and epic series. All reading counts. It even counts if someone reads to you or you read to someone else.
Adult Reading Challenges
It's not just for the kids, Adults can also participate in our reading challenge. All the same rules apply as the children's challenge, the only difference is the prizes. The prizes for the adults is a book bundle/subscription from Once Upon a Book Club or a signed Flames Jersey.

Or check out our Blind Date with a Book shelves. We have packaged up great adult reads into mystery bags that will have you adventuring around the world. You pick the bag and give the book inside a try. Every Blind Date book you try gives you an entry into the adult prize draws.
